Project Overview
We Lit is a youth empowerment program that harnesses the transformative power of English Language and Literature to inspire personal growth and academic success. The initiative introduces students in Trinidad and Tobago to reading, writing, storytelling, and journaling as tools for self-expression, critical thinking, and improved academic performance.
Since its inception in 2022, We Lit has engaged thousands of students through creative workshops, live performances, and online classes, fostering both literary excellence and personal development.
My Role
As the designer for the We Lit project, I've contributed to its success through:

Designed the We Lit logo, capturing the program's vibrant, youth-centered ethos
Year 1: 2022
"On the Day I Was Born" showcased the voices of 14 student authors.
Engaged over 3,000 viewers with video content featuring spoken word poets.
• 40 students participated in creative writing masterclasses.
• 80 students enrolled in CXC exam preparation courses.
• School Tour: Reached 2,300 students across ten schools, blending performance with mentorship.
Year 2: 2023
The Travelling Journal: Published writings from 42 young authors representing 25 schools.
Year 3: 2024 (In Progress)
• Designed materials for the ongoing We Lit School Tour and Career Caravan, featuring interactive performances and mentorship across 11 schools.
• Developed workshop graphics for upcoming creative writing sessions, paving the way for the next anthology in 2025.
Impact
• Engaged over 4,500 students through tours, workshops, and lessons since 2022.
• Published works from 56 student authors in professionally designed chapbooks.
Takeaway
The We Lit project highlights the role of thoughtful design in driving youth engagement and education. From branded materials to student publications, my work helped amplify the program's mission to empower young people through literature, storytelling, and self-expression.
